Some Local Scenes
Waterfall is a tranquil village in the south-west corner of the Peak District National Park. Visitors often enquire as to the whereabouts of 'the waterfall' and seemed puzzled to learn that there isn't one. The name of the village may be explained by the fact that during dry weather, the nearby river Hamps disappears, reappearing at Ilam, a few miles downstream.
The Peak District National Park, the Derbyshire Dales and the Staffordshire Moorlands have many beautiful areas to explore at your own leisure. Here are a few close at hand;

Waterfall Low and its cluster of trees on the top is a local landmark and can be seen for miles around.
The spectacular Manifold Valley Cycle Trail, formerly part of the Leek and Manifold Light Railway which ran from Waterhouses to Upper Hulme.
The parish church, mid summer. The present church dates from Norman times, although the Saxon cross rebuilt into the gable wall may be evidence of an earlier building.
Thors Cave and the footbridge across the river Manifold in winter. The cave though slippery under foot is otherwise safe to explore with the aid of a torch. Bring your bongos too, it has great acoustics!
Wetton Mill, half way along the Manifold Valley Cycle Trail. A great spot for children to splash about, grab an ice cream or have a cup of tea.
Millers Dale on the River Dove. Just one of many great walks in the area.
